Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
surface tension
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because based on structure, surface activity is not expected or cannot be predicted
the study does not need to be conducted because surface activity is not a desired property of the material
the study does not need to be conducted because water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 20°C
other:
Justification for type of information:
This is a UVCB substance, an organotitanate compound of titanium (IV), and the compound has four ligands. All of the ligands are bound to the titanium through an oxygen atom to titanium bond, and therefore all of the ligands must be considered as labile and can undergo ligand replacement reactions. For the aquatic toxicity studies the aqueous layer of a solution of water in contact with the UVCB substance was analyzed. Analysis of aqueous solutions does find residual starting materials and ligands that might result from hydrolysis. The presence of these components would affect any measurement of surface tension of these UVCB substances.
Equally important, the product is expected to react with water and undergo ligand displacement reactions, as is typical for titanate substances with ligands of this type. These reactions will further affect the accuracy of any surface tension measurement.
