Description of key information

According to a ready biodegradability-like test, nitrosodiphenylamine is not readily biodegradable, but is however inherently biodegradable (Tabak, 1981). This is in agreement with a soil simulation study which showed that nitrosodiphenylamine half-life in soil was 45 days at 12°C. According to regulation EC 1272/2008, a substance may be considered rapidly biodegradable if ultimate degradation half-life in soil is less than 16 days at 12°C. Therefore, nitrosodiphenylamine is not rapidly biodegradable and thus not readily biodegradable. This substance is however inherently biodegradable.
