Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The study was performed according to OECD TG 115 under GLP on the substance to be registered itself, validity criteria were met, the test procedure is well documented and therefore reliability of Klimisch 1 has been assigned. During the specified period of time, no significant changes in the surface tension were detected. Values ranging from 72.53 mN/m to 72.79 mN/m were recorded showing no significant variations. The values of the single determinations show no significant difference (less than 5 % between mean values of the two measurement series). Therefore, the result of the test is considered valid and the test item Propargyl 3-sulfopropyl ether, sodium salt (POPS-Na) is classified as “not surface active” in a concentration of 1.00 g/L.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of Propargyl 3-sulfopropyl ether, sodium salt (POPS-Na) was determined as 72.62 ± 0.07 mN/m at 19.9 °C according to OECD 115 resp. EU A.5 under GLP. One measurement was performed for verification (after 61 minutes). No significant changes and thus no significant dependence on time was observed.

As these values were higher than 60 mN/m, Propargyl 3-sulfopropyl ether, sodium salt (POPS-Na) was classified as not surface active. The surface tension of the negative control lay within the accepted range.
