Principles of method if other than guideline:
The flash point (closed-cup) can be determined according to ASTM D6450-12e1. After the sample is loaded into the sample cup of the tester, heat it evenly. The heating rate is slowed down when the sample temperature approaches the flash point, then ignite and note the temperature when flash occurs.
