Description of key information

The four major constituents of the registered substance undergo hydrolysis in water, with a half life <12 h at pH7 and 25°C in all cases. The REACH data requirements are fulfilled by consideration of the three silanol hydrolysis products of these major constituents, which are based on studies with analogous test materials that generate the same (or structurally similar) silanol molecules as hydrolysis products, under the conditions of the test.

It should be noted that if a study with the registered substance were to be attempted, the limit of achievable concentration in solution would be expected to be very low, because of the potential for condensation, oligomerisation and cross-linking reactions associated mainly with certain minor constituents/impurities present in the substance.

All results below are given in terms of the effect concentrations in terms of parent substance as tested. The results have been re-calculated as the equivalent concentration of the silanol hydrolysis product, to which the test organisms were exposed (in addition to ethanol/methanol), based on relative molecular weights. Refer to each endpoint for further explanation.
