Nominal and measured concentrations:
nominal concentration based on water solubility of 0.00022mg/L
Details on test conditions:
Additional to the control (without test item), the main study will be conducted to determine the effect of at least five test item concentrations on the growth of the alga. The concentrations will be selected based on the results of the range finding study in a geometric series with a separation factor not exceeding 3.2. Selected concentrations will be added through study plan amendment. There will be three replicates for treatment groups and six replicates for control groups.
Reference substance (positive control):
yes
Key result
Duration:
72 h
Dose descriptor:
EC50
Effect conc.:
ca. 0 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
growth rate
Details on results:
EC50 value has been takne as the water solubilty for the substance
Results with reference substance (positive control):
The algal growth inhibition test with the positive control is carried out twice a year to ascertain the suitability, validity and reliability of laboratory test condition and the response of the test system.
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
EC50 is deteremined to be <0.00022mg/l, the limit of water solubilty due to the limit of detection.

Description of key information

The EC50 is below 0.00022mg/L which is the value for water solubilty from the lowest detection limit.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
0 mg/L
