Details on test solutions:
To prepare the test item solutions the following masses were added to 1 L each of dilution water: 1.3, 2.5, 5.3 and 10.6 mg. Each solution was treated with ultra turrax for 60 seconds and then stirred for 24 hours on a magnetic stirrer. The undissolved particles particle of the test solution were removed by filtration. Considering the heterogeneous composition of the test item, Water Accomodation Fractions (WAF) were tested.

Executive summary:

In the acute immobilisation test with Daphnia magna (STRAUS), the effects of the test item were determined according to Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (0.J. No. L383A, 29.12.92) Part C, Method 2 'Acute toxicity for Daphnia' and OECD 202. The study was conducted in a static system over a period of 48 hours with nominal concentrations prepared with WAF - 1.25, 2.5, 5 and 10 mg/L. 20 daphnids per test concentration and control were tested in two replicates. The total organic carbon (TOC) of the test item was determined with TOC Analyzer. The biological endpoints were based on the nominal concentration. There was no immobilisation observed in twenty daphnids exposed to the test item concentration of 1.25 mg/L. A 100 % immobility was observed at two highest concentrations 5 and 10 mg/L tested. The estimated EL50 value (48 hours) of the test item based on the nominal concentration is 2.5 mg/L (geometric mean of EL0 and EL100).

Description of key information
