First-aid measures

General advice:       Use personal protective equipment as required. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dust.

IF INHALED:       IF INHALED: If breathing is difficult, remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a POISON CENTER/doctor if you feel unwell.

IF ON SKIN:       IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

IF IN EYES:       IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor.

IF SWALLOWED:       IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs turn patient on side. Rinse mouth. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms:       IF SWALLOWED: Stomach ache. Spasms. Diarrhoea. Vomiting.

IF INHALED: Cough. Sore throat.

IF IN EYES: Redness. Pain. Blurred vision

Medical treatment:       Treat symptomatically

Note to physician:       IF IN EYES:

Treatment by an ophthalmologist due to possible caustic burn of the eyes may be required.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:       As appropriate for surrounding fire.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:       Direct water jet may spread the fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance:       Product is not classified as flammable, but will burn on contact with flame or exposure to high temperature. Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures with air. Combustion may cause toxic fumes. (Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide)

Advice for fire-fighters:       Fight fire with normal precautions from a reasonable distance. Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire. Avoid run off to waterways and sewers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:       Ensure operatives are trained to minimise exposures. Ensure suitable personal protection during removal of spillages. Shut off leaks if without risk. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid dust generation. Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

Environmental precautions:       Avoid release to the environment. Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or watercourses.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:       Provided it is safe to do so, isolate the source of the leak. Dry sweeping is not recommended. If necesssary, light water spray will reduce dust for dry sweeping, but over-wetting may produce very slippery walking surfaces. Transfer to a container for disposal. Use vacuum equipment for collecting spilt materials, where practicable. Dispose of this material and its container as hazardous waste.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:       Ensure operatives are trained to minimise exposures. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dust. In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not ingest. If swallowed then seek immediate medical assistance. Wear protective gloves/eye protection. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands before breaks and after work. Avoid dust generation.

Conditions for safe storage:       Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool/low-temperature, well-ventilated (dry) place away from heat and ignition sources.

Incompatible materials:       Strong oxidising agents. Strong acids and alkali.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Hygiene measures:       Keep good industrial hygiene. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, avoid direct contact. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke at the work place. Eyewash facilities should be stationed close to worklace where possible.

Protective clothing should be selected specifically for the working place, depending on concentration and quantity of the hazardous substances handled. The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier.

Respiratory protection:       In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Wear suitable respiratory protective equipment. Recommended: A suitable mask with filter type A (EN14387 or EN405) may be appropriate.

Hand protection:       Wear chemically resistant gloves (tested to EN374) in combination with 'basic' employee training. Breakthrough time of the glove material: refer to the information provided by the gloves’ producer. Follow proper glove removal procedure (turning each glove inside out without coming into contact with exterior surface). Recommended: NBR (Nitrile rubber), CR (polychloroprene, chloroprene rubber). Minimal thickness of the glove material for penetration time 8 h: 0,6 mm

Eye protection:       Use eye protection according to EN 166, designed to protect against liquid splashes.

Skin and body protection:       Wear suitable coveralls to prevent exposure to the skin.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability:       Stable under normal conditions

Possibility of hazardous reactions:       Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures with air.

Conditions to avoid:       Avoid dust generation. Heat and direct sunlight.

Incompatible materials:       Strong oxidising agents. Strong acids and alkali.

Hazardous decomposition products:       None known

Disposal considerations

Product disposal methods:       Avoid release to environment. Dispose of contents in accordance with local, state or national legislation. Recover or recycle if possible.

Packaging disposal methods:       Do not contaminate ground or surface waters via drainage, by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
