Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

vapour pressure
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
Justification for type of information:
According to hydrolysis test results, the hydrolysis rate is estimated to be within 30 minutes. The hydrolysis products have been identified to be triethanolamine and zirconium dioxide.
The target substance was a highly viscous liquid (dynamic viscosity c.a. 27000 mPa.s at 25°C), the vapour pressure was expected to be very low.
Testing would record the results of the key degradation products which are relatively volatile, including triethanolamine.
vapour pressure
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
data from handbook or collection of data
Justification for type of information:
Triethanolamine is the main hydrolysis prodcuts of the target substance. Properties of the hydrolysis are used for read-across.
other: not specified.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
other: not specified.
Key result
ca. 20 °C
Vapour pressure:
< 0.01 mm Hg
The vapor pressure of triethanolamine is less than 0.01 mmHg (1.33 Pa) at 20°C according to published data.

Description of key information

Data published by Cosmetic ingredient review.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:

at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

According to hydrolysis test results, the hydrolysis rate was estimated to be less than 30 minutes. The hydrolysis products had been identified to be 2,2',2''-Nitrilotriethanol (triethanolamine) and titanium dioxide.

The boiling point of triethanolamine was chosen for CSA.
