The results of several studies, appropriate for the assessment of ready biodegradability of surfactants according to 648/2004/EEC, clearly show that Docusate Sodium is readily biodegradable. Based on read-across to the calcium salt of the corresponding substance, the registered substance is also considered to be readily biodegradable.
Based on this finding, further hazard assessment for environmental compartments surface water bodies, sediments and soils is obsolete, according to the requirements of EC regulation 1907/2006 (REACH).
