Results and discussion

Self-heating substances / mixtures
Key result
Test procedure:
100 mm sample cube at 140°C
Result:
negative outcome (no effect observed)

Any other information on results incl. tables

Visual observation of the test sample after the experiment: After the experiment, the test item had turned into a charred residue.

An exothermic effect of the test substance was observed at an oven temperature of 140.7°C (see the background material). During this effect the test substance reached a temperature of 187.7°C. According to the guideline, the test is positive when the sample temperature exceeds the oven temperature by 60°C during the 24 hour testing time. The result is therefore considered negative and no further testing is required.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
other: not classified based on GHS or CLP criteria
Conclusions:
The substance was determined to be not self-heating.

Executive summary:

In a GLP study according to UN Test N.4, a negative result was obtained using a 10 cm sample cube at 140°C.

From this it was concluded that the substance is not a self-heating substance.
