Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Three acute aquatic endpoint for three trophic levels are available.

The acute fish endpoint is fulfilled using Weight of Evidence. An OECD 236 (FET) study of substance CAS 1271 -19 -8 gave an LC 50 of > 100 mg/L. It was demonstrated that CAS 1271 -19 -8 rapidly hydrolyzes (see 5.1.2).

No endpoints can be estimated with ECOSAR for metal substances, therefore only estimates are given for the organic parts of the chemical structure; Dicyclopentadiene (CAS 77 -73 -6) and Cyclopentadiene (CAS 542 -92 -7). 96h-LC50 are estimated to be 9.765 mg/L and 32.082 mg/L, respectively.

A study according to OECD Guideline 202 was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna under semi-static conditions.

The 48h-EC50 for Daphnia magna is 2.4 mg/L (geomean measured test concentration).

A study according to OECD Guideline 201 was performed to assess the toxicity of the test item to freshwater algae.

Geometric mean measured concentrations were determined. The 72h-ErC50 is 0.73 mg/L (geomean measured test concentration).

The estimated water solubility limit for the parent substance CAS 1271 -19 -8 is 2.6 mg/L. The FET result is in line with ECOSAR results for the hydrolysis byproducts.

In an OECD 209 study performed under GLP the EC50of dichlorobis (ɳ-cylcopentadienyl)titanium for 3 hours contact time was found to be 712 mg/L. The EC10and EC80values could not be determined and the EC20values was 23 mg/L. Dichlorobis(ɳ-cylcopentadienyl) is therefore considered not harmful to activated sludge.
