First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Expose to fresh air.
Emergency measure - Eyes: After eye contact immediately rinse thoroughly with water.
Emergency measure - Skin: Immediately take off contaminated clothes and shoes. After
skin contact use plenty of water to wash contaminated area.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Use plenty of water to rinse mouth.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, carbon dioxide, foam, powder.

Product arising from burning: Product is combustible. Dangerous fumes may evolve with

fire (nitrogen oxides).

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Wear protective suit and self-contained respiratory

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Use personal protective equipment, including respiratory
protective clothing. Prevent product from entering sewers,
surface waters and the soil. Wet down any dust to prevent
generation of aerosols and cover with suitable material.
Take up using mechanical means and keep in sealed containers
until disposal. Dispose according to local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure. When
handling directly use engineering controls such as devices
with extraction systems. Avoid formation of dust. Exercise
caution as usual for handling chemicals.

Only use in closed-cycle systems and comply to general dust
exposure limits.

Personal protective equipment to be used includes:
respirator to EN 136, impenetrable safety gloves (EN 374),
chemical safety goggles (EN 166), safety shoes and coverall/
laboratory coat/protective suit of low permeability

(EN 340).

Wash hands thoroughly before breaks and at shift end.

Storage: Store in sealed containers in a dry and cool place (below

25 °C)

Storage class acc. to VCI concept: 11

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Fibre drums with a double PE inliner, 60 l.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Reacts with acids to form carbon dioxide and isobutene.

Chemical reaction with water: None known.

Dust explosion: Dusts from solids are able to form explosive mixture with
oxygen in the air.

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Discharge to the environment will be minimal. Recovery from
minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically
or technically feasible, and such waste material will be
disposed of by incineration. In principle, it may be
possible to recover larger spillages of uncontaminated
material for subsequent use.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Unknown

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration, burning
under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment
processor in accordance with local regulations. Stack gases
should be scrubbed, because noxious fumes (e.g. carbon and
nitrogen oxide containing compounds) could be formed. A
closed-cycle incinerator with scrubbers should be employed.
National and local regulations must be observed.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged directly

to the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However,
there are unlikely to be adverse effects on sewage treatment
systems because the substance has been shown not to be
unduly toxic to sewage microorganisms.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.
