Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Sept - April 2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 6.5
Temp.:
25 °C
Remarks on result:
other: Limit Value only
Remarks:
Test item did not elute from column
Details on results:
Only a minor component was detected in the partition coefficient study. Additional analytical work and method devlopment concluded that major component of Solvent Red 19T is too apolar to be focused on the column, therefore is not detectable using a HPLC method. The log Pow of Solvent Red 19T is considered to be higher than 6.5; this was confirmed by results of additional studies. The additional studies demonstrated that the test item could not be eluted from the column under the conditions of this study. Hence it is concluded that the log Pow of the test item is > 6.5.
Conclusions:
The Log Pow of Solvent Red 19T is >6.5
Executive summary:

An attempt was made to measure the partition coefficient (log Pow) of Solvent Red 19T using high performance liquid chromatography in accordance with OECD method 117.

This is also consistent with QSAR predictions using the Episuite KOWWIN software which predicts a value of 14.42 for the main structural component. A value of >6.5 will be used for the CSR.
