Formulations (w/w) were prepared daily within 4 hours prior to dosing, and were homogenised to visually acceptable levels. Adjustment was made for specific gravity of the vehicle. No correction was made for the purity of the test substance.

- HAEMATOLOGY
Any statistically significant changes were considered to be of no toxicological significance as they occurred in the absence of a treatment-related distribution and remained within the range considered normal for rats of this age and strain. These changes included higher white blood cell counts (WBC) in males and females at 50 mg/kg/day, and higher reticulocyte counts in females at 150 mg/kg/day.
CLINICAL CHEMISTRY
The statistically significant lower alanine aminotransferase activity levels (ALAT) of males at 150 and 1000 mg/kg/day were considered to be of no toxicological significance as an opposite and more pronounced effect would be expected in case of target organ toxicity. Also, the slightly increased aspartate aminotransferase activity (ASAT) in females at 1000 mg/kg/day (not statistically significant) was considered too minor to be of toxicological significance.
ORGAN WEIGHTS
The statistically significant higher thymus to body weight ratio of males at 50 mg/kg/day were considered not to be a sign of toxicity, as this change occurred in the absence of a dose-related trend, and the mean remained within the normal range.
GROSS PATHOLOGY
Incidental findings included red foci on the glandular mucosa of the stomach, fluid in the uterus and red-brown discolouration of the clitoral glands. These findings are occasionally seen among rats used in these types of studies. In the absence of a treatment-related distribution they were considered changes of no toxicological significance. No macroscopic abnormalities were noted among control animals and males at 50 and 1000 mg/kg/day.
HISTOPATHOLOGY: NON-NEOPLASTIC
All microscopic findings were within the range of background pathology encountered in Wistar rats of this age and strain and occurred at similar incidences and severity in both control and treated rats.

- Wistar rats were treated with CORSAIR CLEAR #12 for 28 consecutive days by daily oral gavage dose levels up to 1000 mg/kg/day.
No toxicologically significant changes were noted in any of the parameters investigated in this study (i.e. clinical appearance, functional observations, body weight, food consumption, clinical laboratory investigations, macroscopic examination, organ weights, and microscopic examination).
From the results presented in this report a definitive No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL) for CORSAIR CLEAR #12 of >=1000 mg/kg/day was established.
