Description of key information

Appearance/physical state/colour:

According to the Certificate of Analysis (provided by the Sponsor), the test material has been determined to be a dark amber brown liquid at 20°C and 101.3kPa.

Melting temperature:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 102, under GLP conditions, the melting point of the test substance has been determined to be -53 °C, using the DSC method, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Freezing temperature:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 102, under GLP conditions; the freezing point of the test substance was determined to be <-20 °C, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd / Dekra (2018).

Boiling temperature:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 103, under GLP conditions, the melting point of the test substance has been determined to be 134 °C, using the DSC method, with decomposition, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Density:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 109, under GLP conditions, density of the test substance has been determined to be 0.9420 g/cm^3 and the relative density has been determined to be 0.9420, at 20 °C, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Vapour pressure:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 104, under GLP conditions, the vapour pressure of the test substance has been determined to be 0.000024 Pa at 20 °C and 0.000044 Pa at 25 °C, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Partition coefficient:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 105, under GLP conditions, the partition coefficient of the test substance has been determined for the high molecular weight component the log Pow to be >9.6 and for the low molecular weight component the log Pow to be 9.4 at pH 5, 9.1 at pH 7 and 8.9 at pH 9 at 25 °C, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Water solubility:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline OECD 105, under GLP conditions, the aqueous solubility of the test item at each pH has been determined to be <0.00027 µg/mL at 20 °C, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Flash point:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline EU Test Method A.9., under GLP conditions; the preliminary test gave no flash point up to 110°C. Two definitive tests were therefore performed at 110°C and both gave no flash point at 110°C. The flash point of the test substance has been determined to be greater than 110 °C, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Auto-flammability:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline EU Test Method A.15., under GLP conditions; auto-ignition temperature of the test substance has been determined to be 340 ± 5°C. No ignition was observed at 351°C; the margin was therefore set at ±5°C. The atmospheric pressure at the time of testing was 99.3 kPa, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Explosiveness:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline EU Test Method A.14., under GLP conditions; the DSC analysis gave an exotherm, from 401 to 471°C with an energy of decomposition of 308.38 J/g, which is less than the 500 J/g above which the explosive potential exists. Due to lack of oxygen in the chemical structure, an oxygen balance was not relevant. The structure does not have any explosophores associated with its structure. The test substance was not considered to have explosive properties, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).

Oxidising properties:

Key study:

In a study performed to the standardised guideline EU Test Method A.21., the test substance does not contain oxygen, fluorine, or chlorine, and is therefore not considered to possess oxidising properties, Smithers Viscient (ESG) Ltd. (2018).
