Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
Butanedioic acid, 2-[(dipropoxyphosphinothioyl)thio]-, 1,4-dibutyl ester
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
Butanedioic acid, 2-[(dipropoxyphosphinothioyl)thio]-, 1,4-dibutyl ester
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on the extent of CO2 evolution during this study (42.57% on Day 28), the test substance cannot be classified as readily biodegradable by the criteria set forth in OECD Guideline 301B since 60% CO2 evolution was not achieved within a 10-day window of reaching 10% biodegradation.

The measured test concentrations of the substance in aquatic medium were very low (< 0.039 mg/L), less than its water solubility (0.233 mg/L) in the acute toxicity tests in aquatic organisms (algae, daphnia, and fish).  The substance is therefore expected to have low potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms although the substance is persistent and its Log Pow exceeds 5.
