Due to the fact, that the maximum burning rate of the mixtures of the test item with cellulose is lower than the burning rate of the reference mixture, six additional tests for the test item mixture were performed for the mixtures with the highest burning rate of 5 wt. % and 10 wt.% of the test item. No additional tests for other mixtures with the test item were performed as none of them showed a burning over the complete pile.

The maximum burning rate of the mixtures of the test item and cellulose (1.30 mm/s) was lower than the maximum burning rate of the reference mixture of cellulose and barium nitrate (2.04 mm/s).

Executive summary:

In a study conducted according to EU method A17, the maximum burning rate of the mixtures of sodium selenate and cellulose 5 wt% (1.30 mm/s) was lower than the maximum burning rate of the reference mixture of cellulose and barium nitrate 60 wt% (2.04 mm/s). Due to the fact that the mixture of the test item with cellulose burned slower compared to the reference mixture, or the flame extinguished before the pre-burning phase was finished, it was concluded that the test item has no oxidizing properties.
