Description of key information

Terpene hydrocarbon alcohols are negative for all genotoxic in vitro endpoints: genemutation in bacteria (Ames), in mammalian cells (MLA) and chromosomal aberrations based on information from alpha-Terpineol, Terpineol multi and alpha-Terpineol, respectively, which can be used for read across as shown in the read across rationale.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the absence of genotoxicity in vitro: genemutation in bacteria (Ames), in mammalian cells (MLA) and chromosomal aberrations, the substance dose not need to be classified for genotoxic carcinogenicity according to EU CLP (EC No. 1272/2008 and its amendments).
