ln the chromatograms of the 20.2 mg/l Lonzabac MP, L224643, test solution which were recorded for 5 minutes, one large test substance peak was observed at a retention time of 0.730 minutes. Under the same chromatographic conditions, the retention time of ethylmethylketone (log Pow, = 0.3) was 1.70 minutes. lt has to be noted that in the chromatogram of ethylmethylketone (see Figure 3) an additional peak at 1.085 min is present. Based on experience, this peak can be attributed to an impurity, which is always present in ethylmethylketone at varying concentrations.

Hence, it was concluded that the log Pow of Lonzabac MP, L224643, is < 0.3 (Pow < 2).

Conclusions:
The results of the calculation method and the HPLC method are in agreement. Since the HPLC method is a more accurate method than the calculation method, the result of the HPLC method is reported as the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water), Pow of the test substance.
The Pow vaue for Lonzabac MP is < 2 (log Pow < 0.3) at 23°C.

Description of key information

The results of the calculation method and the HPLC method are in agreement. Since the HPLC method is a more accurate method than the calculation method, the result of the HPLC method is reported as the partition coefficient (n-octanol/water), Pow of the test substance.

The Pow vaue for Lonzabac MP is < 2 (log Pow < 0.3) at 23°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The result of <0.3 was determined by HPLC method. The value for risk assessment was derived from shake flask method.
