Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Skin irritation / corrosion

In a recent in vitro skin irritation study the test item showed a mean relative tissue viability of < 5.7%. The test item is considered irritant to the skin if the mean relative tissue viability of three individual tissues is reduced ≤ 50% of the negative control. Since the tissue viability was below the treshold of 50%, the substance is considered skin irritant.

Further testing to assess the skin corrosion potential was performed. After 3 minutes treatment the relative absorbance was decreased to 85.1%, which is well above the treshold for corrosivity (50%). After 1h treatment, relative absorbance value was reduced to 41.8, which is also well above the treshold value of 15%. Hence, the substance is considered as non-corrosive.

The combination of both studies results to the final classification of the test item as skin irritant category 2 according to CLP EC No 1272/2008.

Eye irritation

A EpiOcularTM Eye Irritation Test (OECD 492) test has been performed to assess the eye irritation potential of the substance. Test results indicate that test item is either eye irritant or inducing serious eye damage. The substance is therefore conservatively classified as eye irritant category 1 according to CLP EC No. 1272/2008.
