Description of key information

Vinylcyclohexane is a category 2 flammable organic liquid (according to the ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment; Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance; Version 5.0). The classification is based on the flash point (10.5 °C) and the boiling point (127 °C) of the substance. Additionally, Vinylcyclohexane undergoes self-ignition at 255 °C. The melting point was not experimentally determined as REACH does not require determination below a lower limit of -20 °C. The clear organic liquid has a density of approximately 0.82 g/cm³ and a vapour pressure of 1940 Pa at 20 °C (2470 Pa at 25 °C). The organic substance has a water solubility of 15.0 mg/L and with a log Kow value of 5 tends to be much more soluble in the organic phase (octanol).

The kinematic viscosity (0.77 mm²/s at 40 °C) of this hydrocarbon leads to Cat.1 Aspiration Toxicity classification.
