Additional Test
Approximately 50 mg of the test item was weighed into 500 ml a shaking flask. The shaking flask was
filled with water successively up to different volumes (5, 50 and 500 ml). The flasks were shaken for
10 minutes at after every addition of water. The addition of 500 ml water did not result in a complete
dissolution of the test item after 24 hours. The additionally test was performed at 22.4 °C.
Therefore approximately 50 mg of the test item was weighed into a 5 L Erlenmeyer flask. The flask
was filled with 5 kg water and the solution was stirred continuously for 48 hours. The addition of 5 kg
water did not result in a complete dissolution of the test item.
The additionally tests with water showed that the solubility of Dimethylbis[2-[(1-oxohexadecyl)-
oxy]ethyl]-ammonium chloride is less than 10 mg/l.
Conclusions:
The water solubility of Dimethylbis[2-[(1-oxohexadecyl)oxy]ethyl]-ammonium chloride was performed
according to SOP 13.12.0 that is based on the test guidelines (OECD Guideline 105, Commission
Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, A.6 and OCSPP Harmonized Test Guideline: 830.7840).
Additional tests were performed to describe the water solubility more precisely.
The tests with water showed that the solubility of Dimethylbis[2-[(1-oxohexadecyl)oxy]ethyl]-
ammonium chloride is less than10 mg/l (0.01 g/l) at room temperature (22.4 °C).
