TEST SITE
- Area of exposure: dorsal flank area
- % coverage: not specified - area of 2.5cm x 2.5cm tested
- Type of wrap if used:A quantity of 0.5 ml of the test material was introduced under a 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm cotton gauze patch and placed in position on the clipped skin. The patch was secured in position with a strip of surgical adhesive tape (BLEN DERM: approximate size 2.5 cm x 4.0 cm). To prevent the animals interfering with the patches, the trunk of each rabbit was wrapped in an elasticated corset (TUBIGRIP)

REMOVAL OF TEST SUBSTANCE
- Washing (if done): any residual test material removed by gentle swabbing with cotton wool soaked with 74% ethanol.

A single instillation of the test material to the non-irrigated eye of three rabbits produced minimal conjunctival irritation. Alopecia (loss of fur around the treated eye) was noted in all animals. No ocular effects were noted at the 24-hour observation.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In the skin irritation study reversible irritation was observed. The substance is classified as skin irritant category 2 according to Regulation 1272/2008.

In the eye irritation study minimal and reversible irritation was observed not needing classification according to Regulation 1272/2008.
