Thermal stability (DSC)

The test item in closed glass crucibles showed three exothermic effects in the temperature ranges of 100 – 245 °C, 245 – 270 °C and 270 – 480 °C with a maximum overall decomposition energy of approx. -300 J/g.

The test item in closed gold plated stainless steel crucible showed four exothermic effects in the temperature ranges of 120 – 165 °C, 165 – 240 °C, 240 – 300 °C and 360 – 500 °C with a maximum overall decomposition energy of approx. -280 J/g.

In the DSC-measurements in closed glass crucibles the test item Leuco Sulphur Black 11 showed three exothermic effects in the temperature ranges of 100 – 245 °C, 245 – 270 °C and 270 – 480 °C with a maximum overall decomposition energy of approx. -300 J/g. The test item in closed gold plated stainless steel crucible showed four exothermic effects in the temperature ranges of 120 – 165 °C, 165 – 240 °C, 240 – 300 °C and 360 – 500 °C with a maximum overall decomposition energy of approx. -280 J/g. Due to the fact that the energy of the exothermic decomposition was below the threshold of -500 J/g, further tests for explosive properties had not to be performed.

According to the results of the test on thermal stability, the test item is classified as following:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item does not have to be classified as explosive substance in class 1 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
