After correction the deviation of the thermocouples was within the estimated accuracy of the test method, which is ±1.5°C.

Self-ignition temperature test substance

After the test, the sample cube was empty, indicating that the entire sample had disappeared (decomposed). The sample did not show an exothermic effect up to 400°C (decomposed). This means that the self-ignition temperature of the test substance could not be determined.

Conclusions:
Under the study conditions, self-ignition of the test substance could not be determined.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the relative self-ignition temperature of the read across substance, Soya TMAC (active: 88.3%), according to the EU Method A16, in compliance with ISO 9001-2015. After the test, the sample cube was empty, indicating that the entire sample had disappeared (decomposed). The sample did not show an exothermic effect up to 400°C (decomposed). Under the study conditions, self-ignition of the read across substance could not be determined (Post, 2018). Based on the results of the read across study, a similar behaviour is expected for the test substance, Oleyl TMAC.

The test substance showed a small exothermic reaction in the temperature range of 175 - 230°C and no further exothermal reaction of the test substance was observed up to a maximum temperature of 405°C.

Two DSC measurements in closed glass crucibles with the test substance showed endothermic effects in the temperature range 35 - 80°C, 225 - 270°C (double peak) and 305 - 320°C and no exothermal effect up to the maximum test temperature of 400°C.

Conclusions:
Based on the results of the read across study, no self-ignition is expected for the test substance.
Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the self-ignition temperature of the read across substance, Coco TMAC, according to EU Method A.16 and in compliance with GLP. 8 cm3 (2.6 g) of the test substance was placed in an oven at 23°C. The temperature-time curve relating to condition in the centre of the sample was recorded while the temperature of the oven was increased to 400°C at a rate of 0.5°C/minute. Under the test conditions, no self-ignition temperature was observed up to the maximum temperature of 405°C (Smeykal, 2008). Based on the results of the read across study, no self-ignition is expected for the test substance.
