Conclusions:
In the present study conducted according to OECD guideline 104 (2006), the vapour pressure of Compimide 183 was determined using the Knudsen cell. Several vapour pressure values were measured within a temperature range from 61 to 86°C. The vapour pressure of the test item at 20, 25, and 50°C was extrapolated from the measured values. At 20, 25 and 50 °C the vapour pressure of Compimide 183 was determined to be 4.7E-6, 1.0E-5 and 3.2E-4 Pa, respectively.

Description of key information

- study conducted according to OECD guideline 104 (2006), determination of vapour pressure using the Knudsen-cell, the vapour pressure of Compimide 183 was extrapolated from a measurement at temperatures of 61 - 86°C, the vapour pressure is considered to be 4.7E-6 Pa at 20°C.

Additional information

The vapour pressure of the test item Compimide 183 was determined by the Effusion method with a Knudsen cell. Before performing the test to determine the vapour pressure of a test item, the thermal behavior of the test item was checked up to a temperature of 200 °C. The test item changed its colour at approx. 56 °C and started to melt. At a temperature of approx. 76 °C the test item was completely molten.

For the main test the sample of the test item was then heated in a small furnace, placed in an evacuated bell jar. Subsquently after the measurement the vapour pressure was derived from the evaporation rate using the Hertz-Knudsen equation.

The test item was brought into the Knudsen cell before the test and was attached to the magnetic suspension balance. After that, the system was closed and the apparatus was evacuated (approximately 1E-06 Pa). A total of 7 segments were prepared for the entire measurement. The series of segments commenced at the lowest desired measuring temperature. While measuring of each single segment, the decrease of weight of the Knudsen cell was measured by the magnetic suspension balance. For further measurements, the temperature was increased in small intervals until the maximum desired temperature value was reached. The vapour pressure was measured in the temperature range of 61 to 86 °C. From the measured data points of the vapour pressure curve the constants A and B of the Antoine equation were derived. The vapour pressure of the test item Compimide 183 calculated by extrapolation of the measured vapour pressure curve for the temperatures 20, 25 and 50 °C according to Regulation EC No.440/2008 Method A.4. Vapour Pressure, OECD Test Guideline 104 (2006) and EPA OCSPP Test Guideline 830.7950 (1996). The vapour pressure at 20°C was determined to be 4.7E-06 Pa.
