Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key result
Type:
density
Density:
ca. 1 160 kg/m³
Temp.:
21.4 °C

Although the test item is a liquid at room temperature, it was extremely viscous and therefore it was not possible to determine density using glass pycnometers which is the method of choice for liquids. Therefore the density of the test item was determined using a gas comparison pycnometer instead.

Conclusions:
The density of the test item has been determined to be 1160 kg/m3 at 21.4 ± 0.5°C
Executive summary:

The determination of the density was carried out using a gas comparison pycnometer, designed to be compatible with EU Method A.3, and OECD Guideline 109. Triplicate pressure readings were taken after pressurising the reference cell of known volume and then switching to the sample cell.

This is a GLP-compliant, guideline study, therefore the result is reliable without restrictions.

Description of key information

There is no data available for Resin acids and rosin acids, reaction products with formaldehyde, sodium salts. However, data available from a structural analogue Resin acids and rosin acids, reaction products with formaldehyde, potassium salts is used as read across.

The density for members of the category Rosin, hydrogenated rosin and their salts ranges from 1006 kg/m3 to 1160 kg/m3.

The density of Resin acids and rosin acids, reaction products with formaldehyde, potassium salts is 1160 kg/m3 at 21.4°C.

Additional information

There is no data available for Resin acids and rosin acids, reaction products with formaldehyde, sodium salts. However, data available from a structural analogue Resin acids and rosin acids, reaction products with formaldehyde, potassium salts is used as read across.

A GLP-compliant study, conducted according to OECD Guideline 109 and EU Method A.3 (gas comparison pycnometer), was provided for Resin acids and Rosin acids, reaction products with formaldehyde, potassium salt (Harlan Laboratories Ltd., 2012a)
