Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

According to Annex VII of the REACH Regulation (EC 1907/2006), the study on explosive properties does not need to be conducted even if the organic substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties, since:

- the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500 °C. In a DSC assay, exothermic decomposition of Disperse Yellow 231 occurred between 210 and 340 °C, with an average energy release of -440 J/g.

- the oxygen balance is below -200.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance failed to pass the screening criteria for an explosive potential based on the oxygen balance and the thermal behaviour. Therefore, it may be considered as non explosive.
