Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Not specified
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Version / remarks:
1995
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The samples were not permanently stirred but in regular time step manually
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
method to determine freezing temperature
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -21 °C
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this study, the freezing point of the test material was <-21°C.
Executive summary:

The freezing point of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 102, but without continuous stirring.

Ca. 50 g of the test material was placed in a deep freezer at -21°C The sample was stirred manually and observed for any signs of freezing in regular time steps. At the first signs of solidification / precipitation the temperature was determined by a thermometer.

Under the conditions of this study, the freezing point of the test material was <-21°C.

Description of key information

Under the conditions of the study, the freezing point of the test material was <-21°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-21 °C

Additional information

The freezing point of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline OECD 102, but without continuous stirring. The study was awarded a reliability score of 2 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).
