PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
Reaction mass of ammonium dihydrogen citrate and water
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
Reaction mass of ammonium dihydrogen citrate and water
Reference substance:
Reaction mass of ammonium dihydrogen citrate and water
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The substance is not P/vP: based on read-across to an OECD 306 study with Ammonium citrate dibasic, the assessed substance Ammonium dihydrogen citrate is considered rapidly biodegradable. Information on citric acid also supports the rapid biodegradation.

The substance is not B/vB: the substance is considered to have a low potential for bioaccumulation based on a Weight-of-Evidence approach of a QSAR with citric acid, the substance is rapidly biodegradable and the substance is more likely to stay in the water phase than in the organic phase, limiting the passing through membranes.

The substance is considered not T based on absence of acute aquatic hazards, CMR classification and classification for reprotoxicity.
