PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Conclusion on persistence: not vP and P

Based on results of a OECD 301 compliant study, the substance is considered to be readily biodegradable. Thus, the P criterion is not fulfilled.

Conclusion on bioaccumulation: not vB and B

Determination of log Pow of the test item is technically not feasible. However, the value was calculated to be 0.28 by QSAR. Therefore, the B criterion is not fulfilled.

Conclusion on toxicity: not T

One long-term toxicity study in aquatic organisms is available, i. e. for algae. The NOEC and EC50 are considered to be 80 and 397 µg/L, respectively (nominal, based on chromium(III)). The substance is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction according to directive 67/548, or carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic or toxic for reproduction according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008; and there is no evidence of chronic toxicity according to Directive 67/548/EEC, or specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure according to Regulation 1272/2008. Thus, the T criterion is not fulfilled based on the available data.
