Over the 24-hour period any evidence of chemical incompatibility (hissing, fuming and bubbling, popping, evolution of flame, splattering or another violent reaction) or colour change observed can be summarized as follows:

Reactant

Chemical Incompatibility

Color Change

Water

None observed

Initial orange mixture of gel and liquid became clear orange gel after 1 hour. No further colour changes over 24 hours.

Monoammonium phosphate

None observed

No color change over 24 hours; remained light orange mixture of gel and liquid

Turpentine Oil

None observed

No color change over 24 hours; remained light orange mixture of solid and liquid

Potassium Permanganate

Temperature increase from 21.7 °C to a maximum of 42.4 °C

Dark brown mixture became black paste within 1 minute. No further colour changes over 24 hours.

Zinc powder

None observed

Grey mixture observed after ~ 15 seconds. No further color change over 24 hours.

No significant temperature increase (an increase of 5 °C or more) was observed when the Test Article was combined at a ratio of 1:1 with water, monoammonium phosphate, oil of turpentine, and zinc metal; no colour change was observed with exception of water where the original mixture of orange gel and liquid, became a clear orange gel after 1 hour.

When combined with potassium permanganate, the temperature increased from 21.7 °C at the start of the test to a maximum of 42.4 °C within ~ 15 seconds of mixing. The mixture turned from a dark brown mixture to a black paste after 1 minute. After 24 hours the sample temperature was 22.0°C.

Interpretation of results:
other: CLP criteria not met
Conclusions:
Under the study conditions, the test substance is not a oxidiser.
Executive summary:

The oxidation/reduction of the liquid test substance was determined according to OCSPP 830.6314 and EU Method A.21, in compliance with GLP. Over the 24 h period no evidence of chemical incompatibility (hissing, fuming and bubbling, popping, evolution of flame, splattering or another violent reaction) and no colour changes were observed with reactants with the exception that the contents of the test tube containing the test substance in water where the original mixture of orange gel and liquid, became a clear orange gel after 1 h and with potassium permanganate became black paste after 1 minute of mixing. No significant temperature increase (an increase of 5 °C or more) was observed when the test substance was combined with each of the reactants, with exception of potassium permanganate, where the temperature increased from 21.7°C to a maximum of 42.4°C within ~ 15 seconds of mixing. No significant temperature increase (an increase of 5 °C or more) was observed when the test substance was combined with each of the reactants, with exception of potassium permanganate, where the temperature increased from 21.7 °C to a maximum of 42.4 °C within ~ 15 seconds of mixing. Under the study conditions, the test substance is not a oxidiser (Meghan, 2018).
