Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material:
Approximately -20 °C under nitrogen in the dark
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

The pile melted then boiled and briefly ignited but failed to propagate combustion.

The result of the preliminary screening test obviated the need to perform the main test.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test substance was determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to propagate combustion in the preliminary screening test.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test substance, Resin acids and Rosin acids, esters with trimethylolpropane, was determined by measuring the burning rate of the test item prepared as a pile of set dimensions, following a procedure compatible with Method A.10 Flammability (Solids) of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

A mould (250 mm long x 20 mm wide x 10 mm high) was loosely fitted with the test substance and then a non-combustible, non-porous board was placed onto the mould and then inverted. The mould was removed and an air-rich Bunsen burner flame was applied to one end of the pile. The pile melted, boiled and ignited briefly, but failed to propagate combustion.

Therefore, based on the evaluation criteria, the test substance is considered not to be highly flammable and the negative result of the preliminary screening test obviates the need to perform the main test.
