Reference substance:
Composition 1
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The PBT Assessment is based on the criteria set out in the “Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT Assessment” (ECHA, 2017).

Persistence (P) Assessment:

The substance Nonanoic acid, esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. Therefore, the substance is not expected to be persistent in the environment and it does not meet the Persistent (P) or very Persistent (vP) criteria.

Bioaccumulation

The substance is readily biodegradable and thus not persistent (P or vP). Therefore, no B-assessment was carried out since it is only required if the substance fulfills the P or vP criteria, according to the guideline (Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.11: PBT/vPvB assessment, 2017).

Toxicity (T) Assessment:

The substance Nonanoic acid, esters with adipic acid and trimethylolpropane is considered not toxic (acute E(L)C50 > 0.1 mg/L). The substance is furthermore not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction nor is there any evidence of chronic toxicity according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) considering all further amendments. The criteria for “T” are therefore not met.
