Details on results:
The study was performed as a limit test at the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. Twenty daphnia were exposed to the test item for 48 hours in a static test system. The concentration showed no significant toxicity (5 % immobilisation, respectively one animal). None of the animals were immobilised in the control.
Results with reference substance (positive control):
24-hr EC50 = 1.2 mg/L. Was within the demanded range of 0.6-1.7 mg/L

Validation Summary of Study

  • The 24h-EC50 of K2Cr2O7 should lie between 0.6 and 1.7mg/L: The 24h-EC50 of K2Cr2O7 was determined as 1.2 mg/L in a separate GLP study
  •  Immobilisation in the controls may not exceed 10 %: Immobilisation in the controls was 0%
  • The concentration of dissolved oxygen at the end of the test must be at least 3 mg/L: The lowest concentration of dissolved oxygen at the end of the test was 8.7mg/L
  • The pH-value in the test solutions should not vary by more than 1.5 units during the test: The highest variation was 0.1 units
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The study was performed as a limit test at the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L under static conditions. The 24-hr and 48-hr EC50 were determined to be > 0.19 mg/L. These biological results were based on the geometric mean of the measured concentration.
Executive summary:

The acute toxicity of 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzen was tested under static conditions in a 48-h toxicity study on the water flea (Daphnia magna) following OECD TG 202. Analytical verification of the 100 mg/L test substance concentration reported a geometric mean measured concentration of 0.19 mg/L. Based on nominal concentrations, the 48-h EC50 was determined to be > 100 mg/L with a 48-h NOEC of 100 mg/L.
