Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- not specified
- Conclusions:
- The study was performed according to an UBA-Proposal for testing for the Determination of immobility of water flea, and can hence be considered in general reasonable. No analytical dose verification however was performed. Due to the shortened exposure duration (24h), the test performance is however not designed as required for classification according to Regulation 1272/2008. In this study, the following EC-values (Immobility, effective concentrations) were determined: EC100 > 1000 mg/L; EC50 = 316 mg/L; EC0 = 31.6 mg/L, which are way above the possible water solubility of the registered substance, however after only 24h. Nevertheless it can be reasonably assumed that additional 24h exposure duration would not have led to EC50 values below 100 mg/l, as at a nominal concentration of 1000 mg/l, only 65% of the daphnids were immobilized. The noted effects were above the water solubility (<11.2 µg/l) and trigger classification as Aquatic Chronic Cat. 4.
- Executive summary:
The study was performed acc. "Bestimmung der Schwimmunfähigkeit beim Wasserfloh -Daphnia magna-" (EC 0 , EC 50 , EC 100 ; 24 Stunden; statisches System), Verfahrensvorschlag: Umweltbundesamt Berlin, Stand Mai 1984. No analytical dose verification was performed. Daphnia magna Straus were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0, 3.2, 10, 31.6, 100, 316, 1000 mg/l for 24h, static test design. The following EC-values (Immobility) were determined: EC100 > 1000 mg/L; EC50 = 316 mg/L; EC0 = 31.6 mg/L. The noted effects were above the water solubility (<11.2 µg/l) and trigger classification as Aquatic Chronic Cat. 4.
