Zinc difluoride has no self heating properties.

According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006,Annex VII, Section 7.12, Column 2, the study does not need to be conducted for solids, if preliminary results exclude self-heating of the substance up to 400 °C.  Hence, self-ignition is not considered to be of relevance for zinc difluoride, since this would require heat to be developed either by reaction of this substance with oxygen or by exothermic decomposition and which is not lost rapidly enough to the surroundings. Zinc difluoride is not explosive and does not ignite spontaneously with air at room temperature. Self-heating of zinc difluoride was not observed up to 872°C during determination of the melting point. In conclusion, the conduct of further experimental verification is not considered to be required (in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex XI, Section 1).
