Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Nov. - Dec. 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Version / remarks:
Method A.16 Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. certificate)
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

The test item was a solid amber solid. Whilst heating the test item, no self-heating of the sample has been observed. The temperature/time curve is shown as follows. On completion of the test, the test item had melted and after cooling was a black solid mass.

The test item has been determined to not have a relative self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.

Conclusions:
The test item has been determined to not have a relative self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.
Executive summary:

The test item was a solid amber solidand was tested for self-ignition temperature according to method A.16 („Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids“of Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008 of 30 May 2008).Whilst heating the test item at a rate of 0.5 °C/min, no self-heating of the sample has been observedup to 180 °C at which temperature remained stable (melting point). On completion of the test, the test item had melted and after cooling was a black solid mass.

The test item has been determined to not have a relative self-ignition temperature below its melting temperature.

Description of key information
