For assessing the aquatic toxicity the log Kow of 4.6 is used, which is the only peak in the chromatogram and is related to ethyl dodecanoate, because this constituent has the highest concentration in the product. With this log Kow the lowest acute aquatic toxicity value is between 0.1-1 mg/l and also the chronic algae is within this range. Though higher log Kow are estimated and are expected for the longer chains, this log Kow of 4.6 is considered sufficiently conservative also for the two minor constituents. The impurities with the higher chain lengths are expected to have toxicities > water solubility.
