Conclusions:
A 5-day test was undertaken to determine the hydrolytic stability of 2-ethylbutyric acid at pH 4 - 9 at 50 °C. At the end of day 5, >90 % substance residue was present and no transformation products were identified, suggesting that 2-ethylbutyric acid is hydrolytically stable in water. A half-life value for hydrolysis was not established.

Description of key information

2-Ethylbutyric acid was concluded to be hydrolytically stable in water over a pH range of 4 - 9 at 50 °C as part of a 5-day study. >90 % of the substance remained and no transformation products were identified. A half-life for hydrolysis was not established.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
