Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
October 2017
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM D86
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
distillation method
Key result
Boiling pt.:
> 105 °C
Remarks on result:
other: initial boiling point

Boiling point of the substance is directly influenced by the approx. 10% water content, which is lower than the starting alcohols used to produce the substance.

Boiling point range of the alcohols:

isooctyl alcohol: 185-193 °C

tridecyl alcohol: 250-270 °C

Additionally, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) conducted on the substance showed thermal degradation occurring at 175-200 °C.

Conclusions:
Boiling point >105 °C, thermal degradation 175-200 °C

Description of key information
