Description of key information

Short-term toxicity to fish: 96 hour LC50 >3.1 mg/L and a NOEC of ≥3.1 mg/L (measured) (highest concentration tested) (OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A 96 hour LC50 value of >3.1 mg/L and NOEC of ≥3.1 mg/L (measured) (highest concentration tested) have been determined for the effects of [2-(perfluorohexy)ethyl]triethoxysilane (CAS 51851-37-7) on mortality of Cyprinus carpio based on mean measured initial Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) concentration. The test medium was prepared at an initial loading rate of 1000 mg/L of the substance and was subsequently filtered before introducing the test organisms.

Because hydrolysis rate is uncertain in test media, and because the extremely low water solubility of the test substance may limit hydrolysis, it is likely that the test organisms were exposed to parent substance.
