Additional information

There are no experimental data on the acute toxicity of the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2.6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen, deaminated (MCHAmix, EC 943-517-5) to aquatic algae. Therefore read-across approach was applied to 2,6-dimethylcyclohexylamine (CAS 6850-63-1) which is a structurally similar chemical.

A guideline study according to German Industrial Standard DIN 38412, part 9 which is similar to OECD 201 was performed with CAS 6850 -63 -1 using the green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus as test species. Analytical monitoring was not performed, but the substance is considered to be stable in water due to its high water solubility, its moderate vapor pressure and its low Henry's Law Constant. The substance has a 72 -h ErC50 of 47.5 mg/L (nominal) and a 72 -h ErC10 of 24.5 mg/L (nominal). The pH was not adjusted in the test solutions (BASF AG, 1987, rep.no.: 2/0306/87).

MCHAmix (EC 943 -517 -5) is considered to be acutely harmful to aquatic algae. Chronic effects are not expected
