Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no available experimental data on the biodegradability of the reaction product of 2,4-Dinitrotoluene and 2,6-Dinitrotoluene and hydrogen, deaminated (MCHAmix, EC 943 -517 -5). Therefore, a read-across approach was applied to one of its constituent, 2-Methylcyclohexylamine (CAS 7003-32-9) and to the structurally similar compound 2,6-Dimethylcyclohexylamine (CAS 6850-63-1).

In order to assess the biodegradation potential of the test substance, an OECD 301A study was performed with 2-Methylcyclohexylamine (CAS 7003-32-9; BASF AG, 1996). According this study the value of DOC removal with a domestic activated sludge was 95% within 28 days, the 10 -d window was met. Therefore, the substance is considered to be readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. In another study with 2,6-Dimethylcyclohexylamine (CAS 6850-63-1), the DOC removal was 88% within 24 days. Industrial activated sludge was used as inoculum. The substance was easily eliminated from water mainly due to biodegradateion.

Since there are no experimental data on the biodegradation of the MCHAmix (EC 943 -517 -5), these data from a read-across were used to estimate the biodegradation potential of the target substance. It can be concluded that MCHAmix is considered to be readily biodegradable.
