Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018-01-31 to 2018-03-27
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
(1995)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
see principles of method.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
(2014)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EPA OPPTS 830.7840 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
(1998)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Deviations to the study plan: Saturation Temperature was 20 +/- 0.8 °C instead of 20 +/- 0.5°C due to technical reasons. No presumed effect on the study, as the deviation was only short time interval at the beginning of the incubation period.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Remarks:
Shake flask method was used, as the pretest indicates a water solubility >10 mg/L.
Specific details on test material used for the study:
The particle size of the test item was reduced before the performance of the main test.
Key result
Water solubility:
11.6 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Incubation duration:
72 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
8.9
Details on results:
The water solubility was determined using the shake flask method. The results showed no tendency to increase within the time interval of 24h, 48h and 72h, therefore the study is considered to be valid . The pH value was determined to be 9 within the experiment.
Conclusions:
The water solubility was determined using the shake flask method. The results showed no tendency to increase, therefore the study is considered to be valid. Corresponding to the analyses the water solubility was determined to be 11.6 g/L at 20 °C.

Description of key information

The water solubility of the test substance is 11.6 g at 20°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
11.6 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

In a GLP-conform test according to guideline OECD105 and EU method A.6, the water solubility of TEMPO has been determined by shake flask method. The water solubility of the test substance is 11.6 g at 20°C
