Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

The determination of oxidising properties is not applicable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

For organic compounds as 2-Ethylhexyl hydrogen maleate, the classification procedure for oxidizing substances of Devision 5.1 does not need to be applied if the compound contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen (UN Transport of Dangerous Goods, seventh revised edition, 2017). In the test substance the oxygen is chemically bonded to carbon only. Therefore, no study is required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

In accordance with Annex I, Section 2.4, Section 2.13 and Section 2.14 of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and UN GHS Rev 6 (2015) the substance has not to be classified as oxidising gas, oxidising liquid or oxidising solid in class 5 Division 5.1.
