Description of key information
In a 72 hour algal growth inhibition test reported by Klix (2018), cultures of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata were exposed to tert-butyl glycidyl ether under static conditions in accordance with the OECD Guideline 201, EU Method C.3 and under GLP. Tert-butyl glycidyl ether was found to inhibit the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata after 72 hours with the following effect values (based on geometric mean measured test item concentration): The EC50-value with 95% confidence intervals for inhibition of growth rate (ErC50) after 72 hours was > 82.4 mg/L. The EC10-values with 95% confidence intervals for inhibition of growth rate (ErC10) after 72 hours was 80.0 (58.1 – > 82.4) mg/L. The NOEC-values was 26.4 mg/L, respectively.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- EC50 for freshwater algae:
- 35 mg/L
- EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
