Method

The boiling temperature was determined using the ISO/R 918 distillation method, Method A2 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC).

Procedure

An aliquot (100 ml) of test material was placed in a distillation flask and the flask connected to a condenser and collection vessel. In order to measure the vapour re-condensation temperature, a thermometer was secured in the neck of the flask. The flask was heated steadily by means of a heating mantle. The appearance of the test material and the amount of distillate produced during the test were monitored. On concluding the test the atmospheric pressure was measured using a Fortins barometer.

Result:                            : Boiled over the range 424 to 4310.5 K

Atmospheric pressure      : 100.75 kPa

Overall Result                   : Approximately 97% of the test material boiled over the range 424 to 4310.5 K at an atmospheric pressure of 100.75 to 101.30 kPa.

Conclusions:
Approximately 97% of Ethyl tetrahydrofurfuryl ether was found to distil over the range 424 to 431+/-0.5 K, at an atmospheric pressure of 100.75 to 101.30 kPa.
