Description of key information

The toxicity of (2E)-2-methyl-3-phenylacrylaldehyde to terrestrial plants was assessed on 3 species of plant according to the OECD 208Terrestrial Plant Seedling Emergence and Seedling Growth Test guidelines.

The lowest NOEC, EC10 and EC50 were observed with shoot fresh weight:

NOEC       =  22.2 mg/kg soil dry weight (Allium cepa and Brassica rapa)

EC10       =  22.7 mg/kg soil dw (Brassica rapa)

EC50       =  58.0 mg/kg soil dw (Brassica rapa)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
58 mg/kg soil dw
